Christian Taillefer, a former high-level professional mountain bike and downhill champion with multiple French, European, and World titles, transitioned from his athletic career to focus on bike innovation and development, creating his own brand “Taillefer Bicycles.” After a decade of developing bike ranges for prestigious brands, he began designing a new type of product: the TROTRX™ scooter. Launched in 2008, TROTRX™ offers versatile, maintenance-friendly scooters for all terrains and seasons, expanding over the years with electric and urban models, reflecting Christian’s commitment to innovation and high performance.

Christian Taillefer, a high-level professional cross-country mountain bike and downhill (DH) rider, has been an innovator for many years, creating his own cross-country and downhill bikes, as well as his specialized bikes for breaking speed records on snow in the flying kilometre discipline.

Christian Taillefer is renowned for his exceptional career, which includes:

  • 6 French Champion titles in both XC and DH
  • European Downhill Champion in 1992
  • Bronze medalist at the 1993 Downhill World Championships
  • Winner of the 1998 Downhill World Cup in Les Gets
  • Multiple world speed records on snow with a personal best of 212.139 km/h in 1998.

In 1999, Christian Taillefer retired from his sporting career to focus entirely on bike development, including designing the very first downhill bikes with double-T forks under his own brand “Taillefer Bicycles.” He was approached by the Cycleurope group to develop bike ranges for prestigious brands such as Peugeot, Definitive, Gitane, and Bianchi for nearly a decade.

Due to his extensive experience and expertise in innovation, many friends and mountain bike rental companies asked him to create an alternative to downhill bikes: a versatile product (usable in both summer and winter, on any terrain), more economical, without sizing issues or complex transmissions, and, above all, with minimal maintenance requirements.

In 2008, the idea of the first TROTRX™ scooters was born in Christian Taillefer’s mind.

The TROTRX™ downhill scooter was created, and since then, the range has continued to evolve and expand every year. In 2010, the first electric version was launched, followed by the Urban Scooter in 2021. These products are designed to be ever more reliable, at the cutting edge of development, and suitable for everyone, in any situation.

2008

The first commercially available versions of TROTRX™ scooters were aluminium downhill models equipped with high-quality cycle components and no rear suspension. One of the key benefits for rental companies was the single-size design, eliminating the need for transmissions or saddle adjustments, making them suitable for a broader range of customers—from families to experienced riders.

2009

Continuously striving for innovation and performance, TROTRX™ has revamped its design with the development of a new full-suspension frame, offering significantly improved comfort, safety, and riding enjoyment.

2012

TROTRX™ launched its first electric versions with single motors, marking a turning point for users who no longer needed ski lifts or vehicles to reach higher altitudes. This innovation opened a new era for TROTRX™, making scooters accessible for all conditions, skill levels, and types of use.

2015

The first TROTRX™ two-wheel drive models hit the market! With increased torque, more power, and, of course, more fun. But it doesn’t stop there—these two-wheel drive TROTRX™ scooters allow riders over 100 kg to tackle steep terrains and ride in any conditions.

2018

TROTRX™ introduced a new, even more versatile frame, allowing for the option of 20” or 24” wheels, a choice of battery placement (integrated into the frame or in a backpack), or even combining both for significantly increased range. However, we knew this was just a step forward, as it was only available in 48V 14.5Ah with a single motor.

2019

The development of the new removable rear dropouts is a true advancement, allowing users to easily remove the rear wheel of their TROTRX™ with a 6mm Allen key. Additionally, during reassembly, the wheel automatically centers itself for added convenience.

2020

TROTRX™ unveils its new 2x2 scooter with an integrated battery, featuring a custom 48V 25Ah battery mould equipped with the latest-generation LG cells. At the same time, a new BMS (Battery Management System) was developed to power either one or both wheels. The integrated battery can still be combined with a backpack battery to significantly extend range. The frame has also been updated—slightly longer with a widened rear skid plate for increased stability, better support, and improved comfort.

2021

After more than 10 years of developing leisure scooters, TROTRX™ is taking a new turn by introducing the "utility" scooter—a more urban, eco-friendly, and responsible version. With a new reinforced luggage rack that can be integrated into the scooter, users can attach a top case, crate, or suitcase, depending on their needs. Year after year, and thanks to feedback from both rental companies and users, we continue to evolve our TROTRX™ models for greater efficiency, comfort, and maximum enjoyment.

Christian Taillefer was also a member of the AFNOR Commission, contributing to the development of new mobility standards.

2022

TROTRX continues its development with the launch of an all-terrain version equipped with a 750W single motor or dual-motor configuration, operated by a single throttle, and compatible with FAT 20’’ or 24’’ x 4.0 tires. This setup enhances comfort, power, and torque. TROTRX also offers specially adapted vehicles for municipal police, park rangers, gamekeepers, and more.
